Rainhouse Canada recently added an Agile Engineered machine tending system to increase production by running their milling machine overnight with little to no supervision.
The Agile Engineered system incorporates a FANUC M10iD12 industrial robot to process six different types of flame cut products through a Fanuc Robodrill D21MiB5 ADV for a single OP10 drill & tap operation.
The system is enclosed within a safety fence with access for loading and unloading a single pallet into a pallet dock.
The robot is equipped with a double gripper system allowing the robot to unload and load product into the machine tool in one process.
The robot end of arm tool (EAOT) utilises pneumatically operated magnetic grippers for easy pick and place of all product types without need for mechanical adjustment or re-tooling.
The pallet is designed to be compatible with all part types without need for reconfiguration.
The pallet is in inclined to encourage parts to roughly datum against the bottom edge of each pocket.
Parts are unloaded from the pallet and placed in a positive datum station prior to being accurately loaded into the machine.
Completed parts are loaded back into the same pallet or an outfeed container.
New product types can be created by the customer and selected from the 10.4” HMI Touch panel.
Founded in 2001, Rainhouse Canada, formerly Prototype Equipment Design, has become an established force in the North American design and manufacturing industry with a reputation for finding innovative solutions to complex challenges for the defence and marine industries, and advanced manufacturing clients including the technology, medical, and scientific industries.
We thank Rainhouse Canada for publishing the case study below, showcasing the Agile Engineered machine tending system we recently commissioned for them.
Their case study provides a valuable insight into how Agile Robotic Systems helps manufacturers achieve their productivity objectives, and also shows prospective customers what is possible.
We also thank the teams at Rainhouse Canada and Elliott Matsuura Canada Inc. for their valued business and confidence. We look forward to future opportunities with both companies.
